so what do i do...

with all these tomatoes?

i've already made gazpacho, caprese salad, and tabbouleh...can you freeze homemade salsa?

any suggestions? ;) because i think there is another batch this big on the vines ready to be picked soon.

at least the darn tomato plants actually did something this summer... my zucchini can't get any bigger than a golf ball without rotting, the cucumber decided it didn't like where it was growing and is pathetically trying to hang on, the cherry peppers didn't get as big as we thought (smaller than golf balls) and some little bugs have decided that they REALLY like my basil, oregano, and spearmint. so leaves the tomato plants and the lemon thyme. ah well. we tried.

So I am going to miss your blog entries when Ms. Stella starts to sleep through the night. I thought I was the only crazy up @ 5 a.m. There is always that 'ole stand by - grilled cheese and tomato sandwich - and a batch of homemade spag. sauce to freeze for a nice winter dinner with pasta. BUT WAIT you don't have any WINTER out there in sunny San Diego. Or how about a nice tomato, basil, oregano sauce over fat fresh shrimp and pasta when Grammy Z. visits. Thanks for sharing. MA :)

Wow--those look beautiful! Just found out today that a fungus introduced by the "big box" tomato growers has killed most of the tomatoes in the Northeast this season, including the 5-10 lbs/week we were psyching ourselves up for from our farm share come August and September. In years when there is that kind of abundance, we do lots of gazpacho and even eat them raw as snacks. I took a canning class-it doesn't seem that hard--but never actually canned myself.

The bottom picture of the toms is really cool looking, so I'm thinkin'
you could shellac them into some sort of modern art piece...
You could also go see some community theatre and throw them at bad actors.
